Email is an Increasing Problem

Since the email was "invented" in 1977 it has continued as the main means of sending information that is admissible in court. Though you may think that what you say is not important, the content can be used against you in a court of law.
For light social exchange people use Facebook, Whatsapp and Twitter. If governments could get their hands on the data it would use that against you as well.

The main problem with email is that there is so much of it. The vast majority of users cannot deal with it. Most emails are discarded without being read simply because users think it is spam, or the nearest thing to it - continuing emails from a company you have either purchased something from or downloaded supposedly for free.

New email systems from Google, Amazon, IBM or WorkMail usually just provide more folders that you could create yourself. The boundary between work and home life is now blurred with a mass of emails that need ongoing, endless attention.

Trying to make email more manageable is just making it more complex. You cannot make anything simpler that opening an email, reading it and replying, or dumping it into Trash.

Bank Staff to Spy on Bank Accounts of the Elderly

Bank staff are to be allowed to monitor the bank accounts of the elderly to see if relatives, friends and carers are stealing money. At first glance this may well seems to be a good thing. However, banks staff swear to keep all bank information private. Instant dismissal is the penalty for telling others about a customer's financial status.
The thought of bank staff having the authority to pass on private information to government is frightening and will, no doubt, be challenged in court. Of course people with dementia will have someone managing their bank account. Reporting a carer just because a customer is permanently incapacitated is stupid. You don't need special training to see someone has decreased capacity to manage their own affairs.

Smart Sparrow's who are developing the app to do this are wasting their time. Society will not accept bank tellers snooping into their affairs. It will not be allowed. Tremendous damage will be done to families on mere suspicion. Tellers will be expected to examine the accounts of people who just look mildly incapacitated. Bank staff are not qualified to judge health issues.

Can you imagine a social worker knocking on your door based in the perception that the parent you are looking after looked a bit lost in the bank? Surely, social workers have got better work to do than snooping around perfectly innocent family members. Smart Sparrow's seems stupid to me!

Professional Photography Dies

Like many other professions, professional photography has died due to the Internet. If a person at a party tells you he is a professional photographer, you put him in the same group as journalists and consultants: you quietly whisper in your wife's ear that the bloke over there is unemployed.
If you patent a new mousetrap and you say you have given it away, you will not get a patent because it is has become public knowledge and someone is already using the concept. Like photography, just about everyone is taking and freely distributing photos.

A so-called professional photographer who shows his work online is really doing the same thing as the person trying to patent an idea. Even if the photographer blocks a direct save to a computer by website coding, users can easily snap the picture in all its high definition glory. To expect payment is naive with the Internet as it is.

Professional photographers will not retire wealthy. They will not get sufficient income to pay their costs. It is silly for them to feel superior and hold onto a job that has no future.

A Cane-Toad Fence Will Not Happen

It has been a put forward that Australia should build a cane toad-proof fence across Australia. The rabbit-proof fence was a long term failure, largely because investment was not large enough for maintenance. States where the toad pest is already in plague proportions will no put in one cent.
All fences put up to control kangaroos, dingoes, feral cats and wild dogs have failed in the long term. Animals are smart and they find ways of getting though when bad weather damages part of a fence line or animals damage the fence themselves.

The problem is if fences are put up to stop cane toads getting to life saving water then all other animals are kept out as well. Toads need water. We all know that, but other animals also need water to survive.

Basically, the only state with any areas free of can toads is Western Australia. Can we expect all the other states to give funding for this? Of course we cannot. With all states cutting expenditure on health, education and roads: there isn't any part of the pie left over.

Some scientists talk nonsense. In regard to stopping cane toads breeding in dams they say, "If we can take those areas away we can stop them re-invading or even push cane toad numbers back in a lot of areas." It is simple. Just put up fences to keep all the animals out and nothing will survive.

Australian Fish Oil is Poison!

While glucosamine has priced itself out of reach of the average consumer, sales of fish oil are still booming. Just about everyone you bump into is on it. The problem is the world-wide market is not sufficiently policed to ensure a healthy product.
Cut prices for this popular addition to diet is a feature of the market. But are we paying the price? Tests show that the majority of packaged fish oil is contaminated and labels stated omega-3 fatty acid at much higher levels than reality. In other words suppliers are lying. Less than 10 per cent of tested sealed fish oil had the printed omega-3 fatty acid level.

Some capsules are downright dangerous to take. In 92 per cent of tested packages the omega-3 fatty acid had oxidised - that is "gone off". What is more frightening is that most fish oil comes from two first world countries, namely, Australia and New Zealand. What happened to the philosophy of only exporting the best? This is disgraceful.

International law is being broken here and the Australian government must do something about it. immediately. Our export reputation depends on stopping sales straight away. One poisoning out there will irreparably damage Australia's economy, ruining all the good work done. Just remember: one bad apple spoils the whole barrel.

Day of Frankenstein has Arrived

The day of Frankenstein has arrived. New human beings have been born. The path of human evolution has been changed, and should I say damaged, forever. Even though a person can have three parents it should never have been done. Heaven knows what the long term consequences for the human species will be. Man could die out because natural selection has been bypassed for the first time in human evolution.
Now that Britain has passed legislation to allow such births, do-gooders in other countries are calling for its adoption too. Do they have the right to play God? They certainly do not! This affects every person living now and in the future. Consider the legal problems ahead for inheritance. Offspring will ultimately try to claim the wealth of a "host" egg provider when she dies. Your ancestors will be impossible to trace because some members of the population have three or more generations of three parents.

The problem with politicians is - They take knee jerk reactions and they are employed to run ministries in which they have no qualifications or skills. This also applies to voting in houses of parliament. Some politicians are as thick as a post and seem to have no commonsense whatsoever. Read the book Brave New World and see that it is really a stupid different world.

The Reason for the Sodium-Water Explosion is Answered

Many answers have been found for mysterious things in nature. As time moves on most of the reasons why things are have been answered. A few common scientific "happenings" still persist. If sodium is placed in water it explodes. The why has now been identified.

A sodium-water explosion was filmed on high-speed cameras. The flash is caused by sodium hydroxide and hydrogen gases being release when water upsets the balance. Heat creates a point of ignition.

The mystery is that released hydrogen gas should enclose the sodium thus stopping the explosive reaction. Like life itself the answer lies in electricity. All life, such as the nervous system, functions by the flow of electrical current.

When the film of a sodium-water explosion was slowed down electrons (as metal spikes) were seen to jump from sodium into the water. The sodium becomes positive while the water also remains positive because of its mass. Like with magnetism two positive poles repel. It is this that creates the violent explosion. The sodium is destroyed and more electrons leave increasing the contact area with water. This increases the energy of the explosion.

El Niño Threatens but La Niña Persists in Australia

While a new very strong El Niño is on the way, fears of continuing La Niña are real as well. Although Australia is known as a drought country, severe floods are damaging. This is because the continent is flat with a few mountains in the east of the country.
If the El Niño does not arrive flooding will continue. Furthermore, the drought in the US will cause further damage to their economy. The odd thing at the moment is that Australia has drought inland with flooding along the coast. This isn't s normal state of affairs. It could be due to global warning.

We have had a very long intermediate period where La Niña persists and El Niño threatens. Research shows that La Niña will return every 13 years instead of 23 years. It seems to Australians that La Niña has been here for ever with the long intermediate period persisting. There are extreme El Niño and La Niña though. And it is these that do the most damage economically and socially.
