Longevity Will Require Genetic Manipulation and Drug Therapy.
It may sound good to extend life by gene manipulation But it will be complex and expensive. Taxpayers will not want to pay for it. It will be okay for the wealthy. The ordinary person will lose. There will be a tax burden to provide for aged care. It could be a new industry. We do not really need it.

Companies are Pushing Health Technology
▶Companies are pestering Australian health care to adopt new technology. Companies to Pushing on Health in Technology ◀ |
Health: high-tech businesses are pressuring healthcare providers to adopt new systems to improve patient care. Government policy and regulation is stopping them from getting their way. Of course, there is a lot of money at stake. ||| Companies at Pushing in Health up Technology |
There is inertia in Australia's medical system. The operating structure has not significantly changed in over 50 years. Tech companies hold that people no longer want to go their doctor, or be treated in hospital, discharged, then have to go back again. It is a production line but it has worked for a very long time. Adopting new Internet related technology costs a great deal. Staff must be trained to use it. ||| Companies as Pushing to Health it Technology | ||
We have heard so much about the electronic healthcare record (EHR). However, many still refuse to sign the common "share my information" form as it is. There are privacy laws that stop digital storage in its tracks. Unless politicians get rid of legislation, data management will remain the same. Some new methods are being used. For example, MRI results are now given to patients on a DVD: though CDs and DVDs are "way back then" already. |.| not. |.|

Police Drug Testing Equipment is Faulty
testing EquipmentLaw: Police drug testing equipment so faulty they do not stand up in court.
You can trust the police. Can't you? Sure, even if the equipment they use to convict you for drug use do not work accurately, or not at all! Draeger Drug Test 5000 machines are the malfunctioning equipment.
Furthermore, a third of saliva testing kits (STKs) go strait in the bin when they do not work. The kits should turn blue, but nothing happens. Even an investigation into quality control has not solved the problems.
If you are charged with drug taking using the equipment any solicitor worth his salt will get you off scot-free. Moreover, the test for cannabis has never worked. This is like the mine detectors sold to the Afghan government that were found to be just a plastic casing with nothing inside. Draeger is pulling a fast one and getting away with it. State police departments or state governments, who do the purchasing, must be stupid.

LSD Chemistry Rises Again
Chemistry: Psychedelic drugs are again in vogue to treat addictions and PTSD.
What goes around comes around. That's how history is. Things that were old become young and "new" to a rising generation. Remember in the 1960s when experimentation with psychedelic was condemned as dangerous? Well now in many Western countries a lot of regulated trials are being done.
It has been found that the drugs are effective in treating addiction of things like alcohol dependency and cigarettes. Those who suffer from anxiety and depression can also benefit. Whether taking psychedelic drugs in addictive in itself is not yet clear.
The most interesting and successful discovery was 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Victims of sexual assault, emergency responders, and police showed amazing results when given MDMA along with intensive psychotherapy. It is hoped that the Federal Drug Administration will enable it to be used by clinicians in 2021. Unfortunately, Australia is backward in coming forward. Politicians here are a bit old hat and live in the past believing that psychedelics are evil.

Rio Olympics - a Cheater's Paradise
There isn't much doubt that the majority of medal winners at the last five Olympic Games were doped-up. Things will be no better at the next games in Rio. It will probably be the worse sports event ever for drug taking.
Clean athletes do not have much respect for Fedération internationale de natation (FINA) in particular. The swimming body has thrown its hands in the air and ran for the exit. It has given up trying to prevent drug abuse by swimmers.
Sun Yang has been given a slap on the wrist and will compete in Brazil despite being caught. The athlete promises not to take drugs anymore - sure, he will be a real angel!

Tretris Game Stops Cravings
You would think that playing a computer game and increasing general excitement would increase cravings especially for snacks. Apparently, playing Tetris has the opposite affect. Tetris, even for as little as three minutes calms the brain. The desire for food, coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, sex and sleep are reduced by 20 per cent.
The block-shifting game takes concentrated brain power to play well. Keeping the brain "occupied" keeps distractions at bay. Contrary to the myth, women and men can only do one task at a time. It is still surprising how sitting down and passively watching television increases appetite.
The research was carried out by Queensland's QUT and Plymouth University in England. It was done for a week. Preliminary finding are positive. Work needs to be done on other games such as shoot 'em ups and role playing. Perhaps current beliefs are totally wrong.

No More Poppies Needed to Produce Narcotics
Scientists have found a way of transforming ordinary sugar into hydrocodone. This will lead to a cheaper way of manufacturing opiates. Unfortunately, it will also make things easier for drug traffickers selling a cheaper product,
Yeast changes sugar into pain killer. This takes out the entire one year growing season for poppies and the factory process itself. At present, 4,400 gallons of yeast is needed to produce a small amount of hydrocodone. Work will proceed to improve this.
With yeast as the catalyst, it looks like plant-based medication manufacturing is under threat. Yeast has snippets of DNA added to reprogram cells into target compounds. Notably, a third of the world's supply of the medication artemisinin is already produced from modified yeast. Artemisinin needs six genes while hydrocodone requires 23. Some genes from rats arehydrocodone.
put into the yeast to make
A "halfway-house" way of manufacturing pain killers is possible. A strain of yeast to make thebaine is available. It has to be processed in a factory to create the thebaine opiate, but it is cheaper than using poppies and is quicker.
