FOXES NIGHT ON THE TILES DRINKING

Is Coffee Beneficial or Dangerous?

Is coffee good or bad? People in many countries drink gallons of the stuff, particularly the United States, Italy and South American nations. It has always been said that a couple of cups a day is okay. However, people drink much more than this. Tea drinkers hide behind the myth that tea is harmless while coffee is not.

The main "drug" in both tea and coffee is caffeine. It should be noted that professional athletes can now consume as much caffeine as they wish with no fear of getting banned from athletics. This decision was made largely because policing of it was costly and a burden for administrators, not because it does not stimulate the body to improved performance.

Apparently drinking a maximum of five cups of coffee a day increases your lifespan - in Japan. Pity other countries failed to find any connection between the two factors. Japan has also claimed resistance against Alzheimer's, melanoma, diabetes and other ailments. Proof elsewhere is weak for this.

Scientists are saying the dangers of coffee is a myth. Like the beliefs that exercise causes accumulation of lactic acid and oxidants damage the body - both are untrue. Even in advertisements these falsehoods are pushed more and more. Culture, unfortunately, has inertia and it can take centuries for beliefs to change.

The greatest problem with coffee that is seldom mentioned is that the beverage is addictive, so is tea for that matter. Is coffee anything more than a comforting pleasant drink that makes for better conversation? Personally, I believe that it is not dangerous, but claims of benefits should be taken with, say, a cup of coffee.

Aluminium Once Cost More Than Gold

The metal that could only be made in large quantities when electricity became widely available was once valued more than gold. Eight per cent of the Earth's crust is made up of mineral aluminium such as potassium aluminium sulfate. This was used in times past for fire-proofing and tanning of leather.

Today, it is in baking powder and aftershave. The refinement into aluminum metal wasn't theorized until the late 19th century. Hans christian Oersted created the first sample of the metal in 1825. It was highly contaminated. Sodium was then used by Henri Saint-Claire Deville to produce more. In 1845 scientists found it to be extremely light in weight. By 1855 small ingots were made and its price skyrocketed. Indeed, Napoleon 111 valued his aluminium cutlery more the the gold alternative.

Electrolysis was the major breakthrough in the production of large quantities of aluminium. Bauxite was identified as the best and plentiful source material. The price fell 80 per cent almost immediately as it became the cheapest metal available. The price fall is notable: $US1,200 a kilo in 1852 to $US1.00 in the 20th century for the same amount.

Coca-Cola is It - Just Watching You

We are reaching a point now where you will not be able to stop companies having free reign to monitor and cajole people into doing things enterprises want. The legislation to prevent this will just be too complex to effectively use. Individual rights will be trodden underfoot in the rush for higher company profits as oligopolies rule the world.

These big companies are snapping up smaller rivals at their whim. They have massive amounts of money to spare. Australia is a favored testing ground for such enterprises due to its small population and established markets
. Companies can easily check out something new and see how it will work in larger economies.

Coca-Cola is putting facial recognition software on fridges in Australia so it can watch the behavior of customers and how they react to adds on the refrigerator. Sales have increased by 12 per cent over standard fridges. This is great for building up your waistline and for Coca-Cola.

When you go to get a fizzy drink in future you will enjoy a targeted entertainment program which is really just a colorful add just for you. If it is a hot day expect shows of people frolicking on sunny, sandy beaches quaffing coke.

It must be noted that targeted ads are commonplace today. What do you think Google does with all the data? Facebook is sending ads just for you right now. All the spyware and trojans are just ways of collecting information.

There could be hurdles though - what if governments legislation to make facial recognition an opt in service? Oh, by the way, turn off that location finder on your mobile phone. It is not there to help you! Soon Coca-Cola will be putting drink machines only in hot areas of buildings. Heat and higher sales go together.
