Snakes Are Tough

Snakes are tougher than you may think. A women was driving around in her car which was making strange noises. Mechanics had no hope of finding the problem because the issue wasn't with the car's mechanicals. The cause lay in the air-conditioning system.

Kit Carson (yes real name) had a look at the rotor on the air-conditioning. To his horror a snake threatened to attack him. The snake had been entangled around the rotor of the air-conditioner. It must had been spinning around like "a bloody washing machine", says Kit.

The snake has been released to live the rest of its life in less exciting circumstances, though it will be 5 cms shorter - its tail was smashed around a bit.

Elephants and Mammoths Have Much the Same DNA

Elephants aren't so different from woolly mammoths. DNA samples taken from mammoth hair shows they are much alike. Furthermore, there are indications that the mammoth population was so low toward the end that inbreeding took place.

If the unique mammoth genome can be isolated it can be inserted into elephant DNA to produce a woolly mammoth. It has also been found that differentiation between mammoth was only minor, so that a disease could have easily wiped them out.

Mammoth are more closely related to elephants than chimpanzees are to humans, which is about 99 percent. Evidence shows that there were two groups of mammoth. One group died out 45,000 years ago, the other 10,000 years ago.

Dogs Eat Car in Australia

Keep an eye on your car - there are wild dogs about! Clayton Dwyer's girlfriend called him and told him to look at his car. The front bumper had been torn from the car and gnawed into bits. Dogs had even bitten into steel front panels.

Mr Dwyer found it hard to believe that wild dogs would do such a thing. He had seen the pack wandering around the neighborhood.

His girlfriend admitted to him that the dogs had attacked her car some months before. At first it was thought that someone had done the damage with a hammer. But panel beaters could make out teeth marks on torn parts of her car.

Australia - Austria Mix Up is Ongoing

When Australians won medals at early Olympic Games they had the ignominy of turning toward the Austrian flag and listening to the Austrian national anthem.

The opposite thing does sometimes happen, however. When Austria was elected to the UN Security Council one of the votes was for Australia which was not standing for a place on the council.

Some have claimed that it was not a mistake or an accident, and that someone voted for Australia to embarrass Austria. Indeed, Austria only just fell over the line getting the required two third majority.

Apparently it is not Australians who get upset about the constant mistakes; it is Austrians. Tourist shops in Austria sell a T-shirt with the slogan "there are no kangaroos in Austria".

Even Americans make the mistake though, Which is surprising considering the closeness of the two countries. President George W. Bush thanked Australian Prime Minister John Howard for visiting his Austrian troops in Iraq.

Cleanlines Causes Type 1 Diabetes

First we have a clean childhood leading to Crohn's disease. Now we have cleanliness causing type 1 diabetes. Both, apparently, are caused by the same thing - the lack of "bugs" in the stomach.

In the case of Crohn's disease it is the absence of worms. With diabetes it is too few bacteria. Tests on mice showed that a completely germ free environment when young increased the frequency of mice developing type 1 diabetes. Much fewer mice got diabetes when exposed to bacteria.

Future treatment could involve people taking medication containing bacteria. Potential sufferers of diabetes can already be identified by testing their genetic make-up.

Potential Health Damage From 5G in Australia 2020

We do not know the possible health effects from 5G phone network says expert. Professor Dariusz Leszczynski says the effect of radiation from mobile networks is not understood. We are ignorant about about this but are blindly plowing ahead in order for big companies to make money. This is extremely short-sighted. Damage could be a painful sunburn all over your body.

Updated August 29, 2018

More research needed potential health effects 5G mobile phone technology rolled Australia, international expert says.

high-speed mobile phone network operational Australia 2020, offering 50 times bandwidth currently available 4G networks, allowing users download equivalent three television episodes second.

Telstra announced last year would run world-first test technology visitors 2018 Commonwealth Games Gold Coast.

International radio frequency expert Professor Dariusz Leszczynski, University Helsinki, public lecture Griffith University Brisbane Thursday night lack understanding health effects.

"We radiation penetrates skin deep," Professor Leszczynski said.

"We faintest idea normal-functioning skin affected."

Australia's radiation safety government body, Australian Radiation Protection Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA), backed calls examine country's current radiation safety standards changed 5G rollout.

Research published agency's website said 5G technology penetrate skin depth millimetres.

ARPANSA assistant director Dr Ken Karipidis said research needed.

"At frequencies 5G operating, RF electromagnetic energy does penetrate further surface skin," Dr Karapidis said.

"Adverse health effects expected, current Australian Standard accounts these.

"Nevertheless, further research area required, particularly effects skin eyes."

Radio frequency emissions possible carcinogen

Professor Leszczynski one 30 experts international World Health Organisation research team 2011 classified radio frequency emissions possible carcinogen.

ARPANSA said Australian Radiofrequency Standard, based international guidelines, protected community harm.

Professor Leszczynski said examining health impacts technology rolled good enough.

"It appears having deja vu early 980s thought low-power emitting technology would safe, problems," he said.

"Thirty years later appears possibly carcinogenic."

ARPANSA said would individual university research labs pick agency's recommendations research 5G frequencies.

A Telstra spokesman said company ensured wireless networks comply Australian electromagnetic energy (EME) safety standards.

"We rely expert advice number national international health authorities, including ARPANSA World Health Organisation," spokesman said.

"Research EME, mobile phones health going many years.

" frequencies used 5G used radio frequency applications satellite radar decades … 5G wireless networks designed efficient minimise EME."

There is Soil on Mars

Nasa scientists are now saying that "soil" on Mars could support vegetable life. Without an atmosphere, though, it seems no life is possible. Scientists are specific enough to say that asparagus and turnips will grow in Mars' soil but strawberries will not. Are they joking? Or are they for real?

The Phoenix Mars Lander found soil that is very much like that in many Earth backyards. Scientists are shocked that they have found soil. It is alkaline - thus, the claim that it is not good for strawberries. Apparently, the soil is rich in trace minerals.

My, how scientists can be wrong. It was thought that Mars "soil" would be salty - with no atmosphere and the sun it would be bleached. But they were wrong. At least we know that there is soil and water in the form of ice just beneath the surface. There is evidence that in the past water flowed on the surface because erosion is evident. Rivers, lakes and oceans existed there once. Water reservoirs such as these indicate that the planet did once have an atmosphere.

If life did survive for a time on Mars future exploration will surely find it.

Aliens Exist Says Apollo 14 Astronaut Dr Edgar Mitchell

Just when you thought reality was the way, with more people believing that all there is to life is what you see, the UFO enigma is revived. Moon walker Dr Edgar Mitchell of Apollo 14 mission fame says the US government has covered up alien contact for six decades.

He says they look very much like the short, skinny, large headed, bug eyed creatures of the movies. They are not warlike and their technology is more advance than ours. He apparently was given access to this information because of his service to space exploration.

The surveillance by aliens is ongoing - they are interested in us!

Roswell did happen. The first releases given to a local newspaper were correct. A declaration by the US government is imminent, according to Dr Mitchell. Kerrangi radio host Nick Margerrison says at first he thought Dr Mitchell was kidding, but he seems to be serious.

When government sources were approached they kept to the same old line: "NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere in the universe."

Australia is not a Christian Country

People's views are affected by the way things are set out. This is a fact! More Australians would tick the "no religion" box in the national census if they could find the box to tick. The truth is the box is placed on the page where it is virtually hidden.

Are government "interests" trying to hide the truth that Christianity is on the decline in this country? World Youth Day gives the impression that it is improving.

You see there is a discrepancy. The New Zealand census shows that only 50 percent of the population is Christian. Aren't Australia and New Zealand supposed to be "sister" societies? New Zealand's census form had "no religion" at the top of the list of religious affiliation. Australia placed it at the bottom. Apparently, in Australia it is believed that everyone must have a religion.

Australia Bans Swearing

Swearing is part of Australian culture. Indeed, to be accepted as truly Australian, you have to swear a lot. So it is with great surprise to me that Australia is bringing in a swearing ban!

The furore has been caused by the airing of Gordan Ramsey's programs on televisions. In 40 minutes he did say the "f" word more than 80 times. This may be excessive. But if one goes into a public bar, particularly when there are men who have done a hard day's grueling labor, such as shearers, the "f" word will be expressed a lot.

The Australian Governments made recommendations to Australian television networks advising them to review the way they set program guidelines "to stop" coarse language. Just how they are going to do this is a mystery considering Ramsey's programs are very popular, swearing or not.

It is said there is a culture of crudeness. Well, This is Australia and this is part of Australian culture.

Robot Dog to Monitor Dieters

Be careful, the "dog" is watching! A robot dog has been made that watches your food intake and and extols the virtues of eating a good diet.

If you have been good, the dog will jump up and down with joy. It will glow with flashing lights, wag its tail and play a cheerful song.

On the other hand, if you have been naughty and have overeaten it will behave in a sorrowful way, moving slowly and play boring music.

A person can trick the robot dog, however, because data has to be provided by the subject. Will over eaters be honest? Information from a pedometer and bathroom scales will give the dog a bit of an edge on finding out if you are doing the right thing.

It is believed that the concept will be successful. Research has shown that dieters do better if they have a companion to monitor their progress.

Music Heals - But Does it?

It has been said that music is good for you and assists the healing process. Apparently, it's cheaper to give patients music than administer medication. Less sleep medication is required.

Mozart's piano sonatas have been found to be the best "treatment". People listening to this music had decreased stress hormones and increased growth hormones. Researchers even go so far as to say "If patients could be exposed to music in the ICU … they would survive more often".

Now here is the "hit" - I don't like Mozart's music. And I doubt if being forced to listen to it would lessen stress or raise growth hormones in my case.

A lot of researchers actually select their subjects for projects without even knowing it. For example, only those who like such music would participate in the first place.

Reptiles and Other Animals Will Find Global Warming Difficult

Crocodiles will find it difficult to survive if the world continues to heat up. When temperatures rise offspring are all female. The few males that are born will be really busy!

This rule applies to virtually all reptiles including alligators, turtles, lizards, etc.

It has also been found that as the world warms, animals and insects move to higher latitudes on mountains. Indeed, species living in a niche on mountain tops have already become very rare and in some cases extinct.

People Claim Stress Causes Cancer

Perhaps researchers have given up on finding a cure for cancer. The disease is now being blamed on stress and bad luck. This is despite the real cause being smoking and diet.

It seems people will not own up to causative factors such as behavior and lifestyle. Half of bowel and breast cancer patients said stress and worry led to their condition. Some said a virus, germ or their personality was a factor.

Hardly anyone admitted that heavy smoking leads to cancer.
