However, the introduced creature ignored the target bug and ate everything else. Today, native species are starving and diminishing in number because the toad is consuming their food.

The pest has now reached the Kimberley region of Western Australia having taken over just about everywhere else. Sandy Boulter says the toad has "hitchhiked" on a truck on the Great Northern Highway from an unknown source. It arrived recently in Turkey Creek.

Toad busters have been working to prevent their move to WA. The find is a blow to their ongoing struggle. The WA government is spending up big to stop the pests from hopping across the border from other states. It appears the money spent has been wasted. There is not much that can be done. The toads have even evolved longer legs to help them travel longer distances.

The usual way of killing them is to put them in the freezer. If they invade WA en mass more inhumane methods will have to be used such as spraying them with Dettol.http://adventure--australia.blogspot.com/
